Thomas Hennig,
Chief Conductor and Artistic Director
Holds a diploma from Hanover University for Music and Drama and a Masters in Philosophie and musicology from the University of Osnabrück.
In 1990 he was a participant at the masterclasses for conductors with Professor Österreicher in Vienna and Professor Schieri in Munich, in 1991 with Professor Huegler in Biel/Switzerland. In the same year he was engaged as guest conductor with the Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra. Between 1992 and 1998 he was engaged as chief conductor of orchestra and choir at the Brandenburg theatre and was conductor of the Brandenburg Chamber Choir between 1994 and 2004. In 1997 he received a sholarship of the Franz-Grote-Foundation/Munich in order to compose the opera “Das Welttheater” (A World’s Theatre) on the occasion oft he 1050s anniversary fort he Brandenburg Theatre.
Concert tours and various composition mandates have taken him from Hanover, Brazil and Ankara, where he held the position as conductor of the State Opera in 2004/5 to Berlin, where he has been conductor and artistic director of the Berlin Oratory Choir (Berliner Oratorienchor) since 2008. In 2010 he was appointed conductor of the Potsdam Singing Acadamy (Potsdamer Singakademie).
Since 2012 he holds the position as Chief Conductor of the New Prussian Philharmony.
